Little Dog

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I live on a farm, we are not far from a very well traveled road. Ours is the first farm off a small county road. Thus, I believe we are the first place the morons who decide they can no longer take care of a pet decide to drop theirs off at. Ususally cats, this time of year, we have a new cat showing up evey week. At one point I think we reached the number 30!

An occasional dog is also dropped off. About a month ago a little Jack Russell terrior showed up. Of course my animal crazy daughter rescued him, bathed him, fed him, brought him into our home. He seemed nice enough, although none of us are really small dog 'people'. We called the animal shelter, of course none had been reported missing. We check for posters, we check the paper for missing dogs, no deal. This little dog was an unneutored male, who was in total love and major LUST for our neutored male Black Lab. He would not leave him alone, slept with him, licked him, cuddled with him, and most annoying humped him (constantly), W is a very big lab, so most of this time, the humping was on his face, or legs. W would seem to take it in a quite mellow way for a bit, but after a few hours, we would hear a snarling growl, and Little Dog would back off for about 2 minutes. Thankfully Little Dog's lust was only directed toward W. If W was not inside, Little Dog would lay by the door, pining for W. Whining nonstop. So very annoying, I hate whining of any kind, but Little Dog had it down to a fine art, he had different levels, it started with a small low groan, and as time passed it grew in volume to one of those closed mouth, breathers, if W did not appear soon, the whines increased in pitch, and continued until W returned to the house, W loves being outside, so on occasion this could be a while, and of course my husband sleeps with W, so again, Little Dog would go through withdrawls at their bedtime, grrrrr!

We decided to find a home for Little Dog, he is a smart, well-behaved little thing except for his love for W. So we thought it would not be a problem, after a few days, we found a family who thought he would make the perfect pet for their elderly grandmother. They arrive on Tuesday, get acquainted with him, and leave with him. They live approximately 15 miles from us, across a major interstate, and many acres of wooded ground. Wednesday morning he was back. I found this rather impressive, since he left in the late evening, and had to have travelled most of the night to find his way back.

They came and picked him up again Wednesday afternoon. We heard nothing from them for a few days, except for the daughter telling my daughter that Little Dog was a bit annoying because he would wake her at 3am wanting to be let out.

This evening we get a call, "We have decided he is not the dog for us, or our grandmother, we are returning him to you." Well shit! This is my fault, when they took him, I in my infinite wisdom, told them to return him to us if things did not work out. Why would I say such a thing? Because even though Little Dog has no special place in my heart, I did want to know he would be going to a good home. Did I think he would be returned to us? Hell NO!

Give you two guesses as to who Little Dog greeted tonight when he entered the front door. Yep you got it, we humans did not exist, our female muttly (lab/chesapeake mix) D did not exist. He made a beeline for W, and of course gave him a very good licking, again, two guesses where!

Well, W and hubby are alseep, so Little Dog is vocalizing his discontent, anyone want a homosexual Jack Russell?

I have a black lab too. I wonder if Little Dog was humping their grandmother

I've always wanted a Jack Russel Terrier. I'd get him nuetered right away though.

Funny, most of the JR Terriers I've known have been owned by gay men. Never thought to think about the orientation of the dog...

Okay, guess I look for a gay man!
