n. the practice of leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise.
Came across this website while doing some googling.....and I thought what an amazing idea, a great way to share favorite books, a great way to keep the bookshelves from groaning under the weight of too many books, a great way to encourage the joy of reading.
I personally can't wait to get started, I spend a lot of time in parks, I love taking a break during the work day by stopping by one of the many parks in my area, enoying the weather, and it makes a nice getaway from the office atmosphere. So I think I will get started on Tuesday when I return to work, by leaving a book or two on a picnic table.

I love bookcrossing...I have freed a few books, and have captured 2. Not all of them get caught which is sad, but it's very exciting when they do.
hi melody :) I am hoping that the locations I choose will help.I live in a university town so maybe that will help...gonna try it anyway.
It's great - I've been a member for years...I don't bother tracking though...nor have I found any *L*
I have a couple of times been chased out of starbucks with "excuse me you left your book behind"!!
You two once more show me how insulated I have kept myself...how did I not know of this before now...ah well tis never too late :)

We did something similar at the pub we used to run. Set up a shelf with a couple of dozen decent paperbacks and asked customers to exchange.
Within a week we had a shelf of rubbish. That's people for you!
